چکیده
Abstract Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) can alleviate Cd-induced cell death, but the molecular mechanisms are not clear. To shed light on these mechanisms, death induced by 200 μM cadmium chloride in cucumber seedlings root tips was used as a model system. Here, we report that negative effect of Cd stress mitochondrial physiological functions include changes cytochrome c/a, membrane permeability transition pores, and adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase). Moreover, led to release Ca 2+ into cytosol. Exogenous application sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS, donor H inhibited maintains function reducing hydrogen peroxide accumulation, increasing ATPase activity down-regulating CsVDAC CsANT expression. In summary, S suppressed improving properties.

Hydrogen sulfide modulates cadmium-induced physiological and biochemical responses to alleviate cadmium toxicity in rice
We investigated the physiological and biochemical mechanisms by which H2S mitigates the cadmium stress in rice. Results revealed that cadmium exposure resulted in growth inhibition and biomass reduction, which is correlated with the increased uptake of cadmium and depletion of the photosynthetic pigments, leaf water contents, essential minerals, water-soluble proteins, and enzymatic and non-enz...
متن کاملHydrogen sulfide inhibits rotenone-induced apoptosis via preservation of mitochondrial function.
Hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) has been proposed as a novel neuromodulator, which plays critical roles in the central nervous system affecting both neurons and glial cells. However, its relationship with neurodegenerative diseases is unexplored. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of H(2)S on cell injury induced by rotenone, a commonly used toxin in establishing in vivo and in...
متن کاملNitric Oxide Inhibits Al-Induced Programmed Cell Death in Root Tips of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) by Affecting Physiological Properties of Antioxidants Systems and Cell Wall
It has been reported that nitric oxide (NO) is a negative regulator of aluminum (Al)-induced programmed cell death (PCD) in peanut root tips. However, the inhibiting mechanism of NO on Al-induced PCD is unclear. In order to investigate the mechanism by which NO inhibits Al-induced PCD, the effects of co-treatment Al with the exogenous NO donor or the NO-specific scavenger on peanut root tips, t...
متن کاملACS6, a Hydrogen sulfide-donating derivative of sildenafil, inhibits homocysteine-induced apoptosis by preservation of mitochondrial function
BACKGROUND The hydrogen sulfide-releasing sildenafil, ACS6, has been demonstrated to inhibit superoxide formation through donating hydrogen sulfide (H2S). We have found that H2S antagonizes homocysteine-induced oxidative stress and neurotoxicity. The aim of the present study is to explore the protection of ACS6 against homocysteine-triggered cytotoxicity and apoptosis and the molecular mechanis...
متن کاملHydrogen sulfide prevents diaphragm weakness in cecal ligation puncture-induced sepsis by preservation of mitochondrial function.
Mitochondrial dysfunction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diaphragm weakness during sepsis. Recently, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a gaseous transmitter endogenously generated by cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine-γ-lyase (CSE) and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3-MST), is found to improve mitochondrial function. The present study aimed to examine whether H2S synthas...
